MFA Student Thesis Exhibition + Concept Award + Pause/Play Publication Release Open House

MFA students, family, friends, and faculty had a great time in the flex gallery space Monday night. It was wonderful to get together at the start of another semester:

Alvaro Soto, (MFA from The New School Parsons), Design Lead at IBM in Austin and faculty for Texas State Undergraduate program, graciously volunteered to judge the Concept Award entries. He attended the Open House to talk about his decision-making process and announced the winner – MFA student, Erica Ryan. Our Dean of the College, Dr John Fleming, helped hand out the enormous $1,000 check. A big thanks to Dr. Fleming and our School Director, Michael Niblett, for financing the scholarship:

Thesis students, Cesar Rivera, Alexa Goldberg, Lisa McDaniel, and Blake Miller showcased their ongoing research:

Students in the fall semester class, Issues and Criticism, released their publication, Pause/Play. They also put together a fun exhibition to go with the release. Thanks to Assistant Professor Maia Wright and the students for spending Christmas break putting it together:

The exhibition will be up through next week (2/6). So come by to pick up a Pause/Play publication and take a look at what our thesis students are researching.
